This term is used in medicine, by nutritionists, the dietary supplement industry, cosmetics manufacturers and also partly in connection with cosmetic surgery.

Anti-aging is different from rejuvenation:
While anti-aging aims to slow down aging processes, rejuvenation aims to reset them.

The most important external factor in skin aging is exposure to UV radiation, also known as light aging. UV radiation causes the formation of free radicals, which can destroy cell components and cause cells to die. Extensive sunbathing and visits to solariums in particular intensify this form of aging. Age spots are also sun damage. Nicotine consumption also leads to premature aging of the skin with the formation of wrinkles.

In its studies, Stiftung Warentest regularly criticizes the lack of efficacy of anti-aging products, or the fact that they are short-lived and have little or no proven efficacy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”314991″]Incorrectly generalized, Stiftung Warentest states that the active ingredients only worked on the surface of the skin and did not penetrate. However, this only applies to some active ingredients.

The problem of application through the skin mainly the molecular size. Since the upper skin layer is rich in lipids, low-molecular lipophilic substances are best absorbed. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid (molecular weight 1.5 – 1.8 MDa (megadalton)) is unable to penetrate deeper into the skin due to its molecular size and therefore remains in the upper skin layers and is suitable for plumping up the skin. It also reduces irritation. In contrast, low-molecular hyaluronic acid can penetrate deep into the dermis, making it more suitable for medical purposes.

An effective tool against skin aging (before the appearance of damage/wrinkles) would be antioxidants that can neutralize free radicals. Here, vitamin C, vitamin B3, α-lipoic acid, green tea polyphenols and vitamin E come into consideration, of the latter especially tocotrienols.

The cosmetics industry and cosmetic medicine offer a wide range of methods to combat wrinkles under the terms anti-aging or pro-aging. The term is also frequently used for cosmetic surgery measures.

Unfortunately, no wrinkle in this world can be simply creamed away. It usually occurs after the age of 30 as an early form of rosacea. Some people use the two terms synonymously. It actually describes only the first erythematous-teleangiectatic stage of the disease. A constitutional connective tissue weakness must be present. Females are affected slightly more frequently than males.

In the initial stage, there is only a temporary inflammation, especially on the nose and cheeks. However, with multiple appearances, the redness persists longer as a result of congestion in the capillaries. This congestion then leads to permanent vasodilatation. Due to protuberances and branching, there is even a new formation of vessels, which, however, have a reduced elasticity with an increased permeability. This explains the permanent reddening, the strong expression of the vascular network and the leakage of blood into the surrounding tissue.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”102991″]While in telangiectasias the light red tone dominates, since the arterial vessels are affected, we are speaking of venectasias when the venous vessels are affected; the skin then has a bluish coloration. A mixed form is possible.
Often the cause is a genetic predisposition, more rarely the sun, solarium, high blood pressure, alcohol or rosacea play a role as triggers or enhancers. Contact eczema, food intolerance or perioral dermatitis can also be the cause.

For skin care, you should pay attention to particularly well-tolerated cosmetics and avoid all aggressive chemicals. Fragrances, essential oils, fatty creams, etc. often aggravate the veins. On the other hand, black tea, horsetail, horse chestnut or arnica may have a calming effect. Furthermore, Defensil Plus soothes, protects and stabilizes the damaged skin barrier and corrects the expression of couperose. The skin must be protected from too much heat and cold. However, 15 to 30 percent of children and 2 to 10 percent of adults in industrialized countries have no choice. They have to cope with the chronic, inflammatory but not contagious skin disease, because there is no cure.

In neurodermatitis patients, the skin cannot perform its protective function to the same extent as in healthy people. Contact with physical, chemical or microbial stimuli can therefore lead to inflammation and immune reactions. The disease often begins as an infant or child and typically progresses in flare-ups, which can alternate with periods of little or no symptoms.

TREATMENT APPROACHES

Conventional medical treatment primarily includes avoiding harmful environmental factors, intensive skin care, and certain medications that curb immune reactions and prevent germs from infecting the skin. Relief can also be provided by climate and light treatments. In addition, the correct handling of the disease – the patient’s self-management – plays an important role. And finally, there are a number of complementary and alternative medical treatments that are also in high demand among patients.

With children in particular, time often heals them as well. Quite a few who suffered severely as infants or toddlers are free of symptoms by the time they start school or hit puberty.

The term “neurodermatitis” is derived from the Greek (neuron = nerve, derma = skin and the suffix “-itis” as a sign of an inflammatory process). It originates from a time when it was assumed that an inflammation of the nerves was connected with the skin disorders. Although it is now known that this is incorrect, the term “atopic dermatitis” is more popular than the terms “atopic dermatitis” or “atopic eczema” preferred by physicians.

The predisposition to atopic disease is carried by affected individuals throughout their lives. That is why there is no cure in the true sense of the word. The aim of treatment is to make the symptoms disappear or at least to alleviate them and to stabilize symptom-free phases.

TREATMENT METHODS

Treatment is not possible with a single medication or procedure. Therefore, the therapy of neurodermatitis ideally consists of a variety of building blocks, some of which have to be tried out. In detail, these include:

Prevention strategies (abstinence): affected persons should avoid factors that have been identified as triggers for disease flare-ups, if possible.

Basic skin care: This serves to keep dry skin moist and supple and to improve its protective function.

Treatment of itching: It limits the need to scratch. It protects the skin and any changes are not magnified.

Anti-inflammatory measures: They help to heal eczema.

Prevention and treatment of infections: Colonization with bacteria is a constant source of irritation for the immune system. Infections can also lead to serious complications.

Hyposensitization: This involves a step-by-step re-accustoming of the immune system to the allergen, as it were.

Complementary and alternative medical measures: Their effectiveness has not been scientifically proven, yet they are in high demand.

Patient education: Studies have shown that patients deal better with their disease if they are well informed.

Ideally, the doctor and the patient or the patient’s parents should work out an individualized plan for controlling the disease. Patients learn which measures help best in which situation and can act accordingly.

PREVENTION STRATEGIES (Karenzen)

In the progress of their disease, many patients identify environmental influences that worsen their symptoms. For example, certain fabrics such as wool or cleaning and washing agents, food additives, fragrances, allergenic components in food, dust mites, pollen, animal hair and, and, and….
With food one should avoid if necessary taste supplements or preservatives.

Consistent avoidance is also the remedy of choice for food allergies. However, this only applies if the allergy has really been confirmed by appropriate tests. Without an appropriate medical diagnosis, one should not abstain from certain foods or even follow one-sided diets.

In the case of an allergy to house dust mites, the first measure is to create a living environment that is as free of mites as possible. For this purpose, dust catchers such as curtains, carpets and stuffed animals should be banned from the apartment or at least cleaned regularly. Mite-proof foils, so-called encasings, are available for mattresses, pillows and comforters. They keep you from getting in contact with the mites and their excretions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Pollenallergiker finden in höheren Bergregionen und an den Küsten pollenarme Bereiche vor.
